Loocam Wireless Microphone Review

Loocam Wireless Microphone Review

There are so many unknown brands of audio gear available on Amazon. How can anyone know what's good and what's trash? And how do you assess the value of items that are so inexpensive that if they work at all, perhaps that's almost enough value for the price?

For wireless audio, I frequently use the Rode Wireless ME lavalier set. I have one paired to my Rodecaster Duo and this brings me the audio quality, freedom, and flexibility I need for work calls as well as for creating audio tracks for videos.

But what are the options when something like even the budget Rode is beyond your means, or you want something to allow you to record videos on your smartphone or tablet without being tied to the phone for the best audio quality? Can a cheap $40-50 wireless microphone perform well enough to supplant your smartphone's audio and allow you to break free from holding the phone close to your audio source or relying on wired or Bluetooth headphones?

Let's take a look and a listen to the Loocam wireless microphone system and hear audio samples for comparison against a smartphone and the Rode Wireless ME. (spoiler: It's not as good as the Rode, but I think it's worth the money, especially for anyone just starting out or looking for something cheap).
